Per Capita Report
The Encorp Pacific Per Capita Report came out today and it is noted that the depots are collecting 84.3% of the containers that are being returned. This is up from 82.9% last year.
Congratulations to all the depots for the increase.
On Monday, January 17, 2005 a class action lawsuit was filed against Encorp Pacific by the Consumer's Association of Canada. Their claim is that Encorp is using unredeemed deposits illegally and also that the Container Recycling Fee is illegal.
Encorp's response to this is that it's use of unredeemed deposits and fees charged to the brand owners is lawful, reasonalbe and transparent, and approved by the Provincial Government when it accepted Encorp's Stewardship Plan.
At this time, there isn't much more to detail as the above is Encorp's statement and it will need to take it's course. Encorp has also stated that because it is now before the courts they are unable to comment further on this action.
